This is a great worksheet for practicing the social function of apologising.

After the lead-in, there is a vocabulary matching exercise followed by a short conversation for your students to practice. Your students will then look at using 'should have' for expressing regret. (e.g. I should have phoned.')

This language work is consolidated by extensive role-play.
